Italian pizza makers are “buzzing” with orders from customers as the country struggles with a pandemic, and have set up a hotline to help customers get their orders in line.
The pizzas, made by a number of Italian brands, including Bologna, Casa Verde, Pisa and others, were made with ingredients sourced from a variety of countries including the United States, Australia, the UK and Italy.
“We’re being overwhelmed with orders, it’s crazy,” said the owner of Bolognese pizzeria, Fabrizio Lotti.
Lotti said he and his staff were able to quickly respond to orders, which are being sent out via text message.”
The company said customers who order from its website will be sent a direct email from the manufacturer, and can order online from Tuesday.
Lotti said he and his staff were able to quickly respond to orders, which are being sent out via text message.
The firm, which has an inventory of 2,000 pizzas from Italian, British, US, and French producers, said it was “very nervous” that it could not provide enough pizzas to meet demand, which was a concern for some people who may have taken out their loans to buy the pizza.”
There are no guarantees, but we’re confident we will get the pizzas in time,” Lotti said.”
When you’re dealing with a financial crisis like this, you have to be ready to take the risk.
Theres always a chance of it not working out.
“We are very confident and we’re taking all the steps that we can to make sure we get them in time.”
The company’s CEO, Giovanni Tavecchio, said the firm had already shipped 3,000 of the pizzases to customers who requested them.
He said the orders were delivered on time, with no issues.
“In Italy, we are always the last to order and it’s very dangerous to miss deliveries,” he said.
Tavecotto said it had been an overwhelming response from the customers who were ordering, but that he was worried about the safety of his staff.
“Our staff are very worried, because they know that the risk is very high,” he told ABC News.
“And that they have to watch for any suspicious packages that they may receive.”
Lotti’s pizzas have already sold out in some of his stores.
